This book is a personal journey—Brian and Robyn’s story of walking a road of obedience with God over 40 years. It’s full of living examples that challenge the reader to ask, “Could that really be God asking me to do that?”

Rather than a chronological memoir, the book unfolds through key moments, themes, and divine encounters—offering insights into different aspects of prayer and intercession. From their journey, we learn what it means to truly pray: to listen for God’s prayer agenda, to intercede for cities and nations, and to move beyond personal requests into partnership with the Spirit.

There has to be more to being a Christian than just going through the routine of religion! That was the cry of my heart, and God was going to answer my heart’s cry in an amazing way.

I had been a follower of Jesus all my life. I was born into a Christian home. My father was a Minister, and I had never really known life without Christ. I had made my own personal decision to follow Christ and had found many ways to serve Him in both the local Church and in the expanded Body of Christ across the Nation.

However, what was causing me dissatisfaction with my Christian walk, was a lack of vitality and excitement. I yearned to see God at work in ways that I read about in the Bible. The first century Christians, empowered by the Holy Spirit, seemed to be on the cutting edge of seeing the Kingdom of God established in their midst.

Going to Church every Sunday, reading my bible, and saying my prayers every day (as important as that is in our walk with God) did not lead to a sense of being on the cutting edge – and not knowing what God was going to do next.

I began to share my heart with God, asking Him what it would take for me to be allowed to be on the cutting edge of His work in establishing His kingdom here on earth.

I sensed His response. “Brian, all it will take is for you to give me the two things that everyone has to give.” My mind began to try and work out what those two things might be. I argued that I did not have much to give, no formal theological training, no special gifts. Plus, I had to hold down a full-time job and take care of my wife and new baby.
His response was, “Brian, I am not interested in what you haven’t got to give me, all I require is your total availability and radical obedience.”

My first thought was, what does that involve? The more I wrestled with the concept, the more I realised I could not give even those two things in my own strength. I needed God himself to make me into that kind of person.

As I continued to pray, peace began to descend upon my spirit. I said, Lord, I don’t know what it means to be totally available and radically obedient, but I give you permission to make me into that person.
